Settling In

Thursday morning we woke and drove to our new town where we stopped to get paint and a bite to eat. By the afternoon we were unscrewing outlet covers, taping frames, filling holes, sanding, wiping, placing plastic, and finally priming. We worked until about 2am on the Living room and kitchen. Although we were incredibly exhausted, we needed to get the primer on so it would have time to dry because we needed to paint on Friday before we moved on Saturday. I am so thankful that it is finished. It is disappointing that we only have 2 rooms finished, but they were the 2 most important rooms, and they look great. We are really happy with the colors. Check out the before and after pictures at the bottom of the post. The house isn't clean and there are still some boxes, but you get the idea.

My parents drove up early Saturday morning to help us move. Our former neighbor who works with John also surprised us by offering to help. We made 2 trips with the moving van and finished very late...again. Thankfully we didn't have to get up early Sunday morning. Of course, my little alarm clock doesn't have a snooze button, she has an "I'm awake and I'm ready to eat!" button. At least we got to rest on Sunday. I have been working hard this week to get the house in order. Besides our bedroom, I am impressed by how much I have accomplished. Annelise's room is completely finished, the kitchen is practically finished, the extra bed room is mostly set up, and I have rearranged the furniture in every room except the living room.

Annelise has not been her usually good self. She is whiney and demanding. It started with her getting a fever while we were painting. Her top teeth are coming in and she was not happy about it. She had a fever for about 2 days and didn't want anyone but mama...mama was very tired. Now she is feeling better, but is still using the screaming to try and get what she wants. Why couldn't she be perfect forever? I have been disciplining her, but if anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

It feels so good to own the house. There are many more problems that need fixing than we originally thought, but that is just the way it goes. We are still very happy. Remember, if you ever want to come visit or will be in the area and need a place to stay...you are welcome here!

I'm looking forward to seeing the new house one of these days! Is Annelise saying "mama"?
